The Veterans Shield Challenge

The Veterans Shield Challenge

Run of Events

The Aim of this Challenge is to hold an annual Fundraising event, where each organization gets to raise funds for their own chosen cause but under one Banner, The Combined Services Charity Shield Association.

The actual event will be held over 2 days.

Day one

A 30 Mile Tab, 3 Routes to be confirmed nearer the date.

Any Teams Competing in this will need the Following

  1. Minimum of 4 Named and Registered Members.

  2. Maximum of 10 Named and Registered Members.

  3. A Flag for the Organisation you are representing,  (one each preferably)

  4. The Charity or CAUSES you are raising Funds for. (1 must be a Veteran Charity the other a Civilian Charity)

Any member of your Organisation can take part in this as fund raisers by either walking with you or by doing sponsored walks of 1, 5 or 10 miles to help raise funds for you.

How you break down the Tab is up to each individual Team, the only rules for this are that all team members march together for the first and last Mile.

Points will be awarded to not only the fastest Team but also for the most raised in funds, so you might not have the fastest Team but you might have raised more in funds.

The Main Event

Part two of the Challenge will be more a fun day for all the Family.

This will incorporate a series of challenges very similar to it’s a Knockout for those of us old enough to remember and will be an elimination with the winners earning points as above.

The day will start by all the teams taking part to lay wreaths at the Chorley memorial (TBC) and then march as one unit to the Venue. (Hopefully with a military band of sorts)

Once the day has been officially opened the challenges will then proceed throughout the day. Itinerary is included within the info package you received.

As well as these challenges there is an open invitation to set up a stand on your organization's behalf which will help raise more awareness to the general public of what you do.

During the day there will be various other activities for all to take part in and watch.

The day will end with the winning team being presented with the Veterans Shield and individual medals and the evenings entertainment being announced.

The Weekend will conclude with a Charity Concert in aid of the hosting organisations choice.
